About Slidis
Slidis is a practical tool for Irish learner drivers. We provide access to community-verified, RSA-Style routes. Data is sourced from local drivers who actually passed the test. Think of it as the info you need to stop guessing and start driving.
Core functionality — route navigation, position tracking, and deviation alerts — is €0. No hidden fees. No 'free trials'. No cards required. The app remains free as long as the community keeps adding to the map. That is the deal.
Slidis is a community-maintained project. It was built by learner drivers tired of paying for vague route info. Routes are uploaded and verified by active local contributors — people who are navigating the same roads you are.
This site is the gateway. The accurate GPS tracking experience is in the mobile application (iOS/Android). Secure your spot via the waitlist on the homepage.
Route Data
Routes are community-sourced suggestions based on past tests. They are not RSA instructions. Infrastructure changes: roadworks, new speed zones, altered junctions. Slidis provides the historical path, but you are the driver. You must obey all current road signs, rules, and conditions. Do not follow the line blindly.
Yes. The platform relies on active drivers mapping their local areas. Upload your route, flag the tricky junctions, and document the reality of the road. Accuracy is maintained through continuous peer review by the community.
All RSA test centres are in the system. However, route density depends entirely on local community input. High-traffic centres like Tallaght or Finglas have extensive data. If your local centre has zero routes: be the first to map it.
Slidis Picks are routes reviewed for maximum accuracy by our veteran contributors. Community Routes are direct uploads awaiting peer verification. Both follow RSA-Style patterns. One just has more eyes on it.
Tech Specs
Cached routes work. If the 3G gods abandon you on a Wicklow backroad, the previously loaded route still works. Syncing new community data requires a signal.
Live GPS tracking is intensive. We have optimised the background services, but physics is physics. Plug your phone into the car on test day. Don't add a dead battery to your list of problems.
Tracking is only active during a drive session. We don't harvest passive data. Your location is processed locally. Review the Privacy Policy for the full technical breakdown.
iOS and Android. We support the two most recent major versions. If you are running an old phone and it breaks, report it via the support page.
The Boring Bits
Negative. Slidis is a community project. Zero affiliation with the Road Safety Authority of Ireland. Every route is RSA-Style (community-verified), but this is peer information, not a government service.
Yes. Slidis is a practice tool. Memorising routes is legal; using your phone while moving the vehicle is not. Do not interact with the device while driving. Prioritise road safety.
Yes. Slidis does not replace the 12 mandatory EDT sessions. Irish law requires an ADI instructor. Use Slidis for independent practice between mandatory sessions to actually learn the roads.
Minimal data collection. Location data stays on-device. Community uploads are processed to improve the maps. We do not sell data. Full details in the Privacy Policy.
